My PErsonal Farmer CSA
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a model in which customers in a community pre-pay for a share of food from a local farmer, prior to its production. The members of the CSA agree to help the farmer by assisting in the purchase of seed, lebor, etc. before a crop is actually harvested, or even in the ground. In a typical arrangement, a share is paide out to members in the form of a box of vegetables chosen by the farmer and distributed weekly to the membership.
My Personal Farmer CSA is more flexible than that typical model. Members prepay $120 to $420 (multiples of $60) for a share for the next 6 months. This entitles members to order up to that amount from any of our available farm products - vegetables, pastured pork, pastured eggs, fresh or dried herbs, herb blends, spice mixes, wool yarn, dog treats, and organic coffee. You have 6 months to draw down the deposited amount. After that, you have an option to charge up your account in multiples of $60. I accept cash, PayPal, and checks made out to Broad River Pastures. Some members send me bank checks at the first of each month to keep things current.
Personal Farmer Cathy sends out a bi-weekly newsletter and delivers to Athens every other Thursday. Drop off points include Oglethorpe Feed in Oglethorpe County (around 10 a.m.), East Athens at Lawson Chiropractic on Gaines School Road (around 11:20 a.m.), various locations at lunchtime, Mary's Tack and Feed in Bogart or Sam's Club around 2:00 p.m., Thrive on Prince Avenue around 2:30 p.m., and Ben's Bikes off W. Broad St. and S. Pope St. from 3:40 to 4:30 p.m. As days grow shorter, an earlier pick up (by 4:15) is preferred. Farmer Cathy's delivery days begin at 6 a.m. and it can get dark by 5:30.
We are now accepting a few new CSA members. We will have seasonal items available year round. Please complete the FARM TRUST CSA INQUIRY FORM below for more information. Thank you for your support!
