Broad River Rabbitry
Broad River Rabbitry is dedicated to preserving heritage breeds of rabbits and to protect the crucial genetic diversity in our food system. The breeds we currently raise are American and Silver Fox, both truly American breeds, and the beautiful blue-eyed white Beveren.
We strive to offer healthy stock using The ARBA Standard of Perfection as a guide. Breeding quality rabbits should be good producers of meat and/or show quality rabbits. Our rabbits are bred for good temperament as well.
Broad River Rabbitry is registered with the American Rabbit Breeders Association, Breeders of the American Rabbit, the National Silver Fox Rabbit Club, and the American Beveren Rabbit Club.
American Blue and White Herd
The American Blue rabbit was developed as a meat rabbit in Pasadena, California in 1917. It has the deepest blue color of all the blue rabbits. The American White variety was introduced in 1925. The Americans in our rabbitry come from several lines. These include Alan Schrader's A&C Rabbitry in Indiana, Golden Spike Rabbitry in Canada, Vellinga's Rabbitry in California, and Crown2B in California.
American rabbits are a prolific meat breed, grow quickly, and have a sweet, docile personality. They can make good "house rabbits." They adapt well to a variety of foods and will greet you at the door of their cage for a cuddle. The American rabbit is exclusive to North America. Recently the rarest of rabbits in the United States, the American has made a comeback due to the efforts of dedicated breeders.

Health Guarantee
Broad River Rabbitry guarantees the health of our rabbits at the time of delivery. They will not leave the premises if they show any signs of illness such as diarrhea, runny nose, sneezing, weepy eyes, unrevealed disqualifications for showing, or any other known problems.
Because of unknown husbandry factors once the rabbits leave our premises, Broad River Rabbitry can make no guarantee of health once the rabbit leaves our possession. We do not guarantee the health, disposition, show quality, reproductive ability, or longevity of any animals no longer in our care. There are too many factors beyond our control.
Pedigree
Each rabbit sold comes with a 3, 4, or 5 generation pedigree, and a bag of their current feed, and a bag of hay.
Pick Up/ Delivery
Pick up at the farm is preferred. Please make an appointment. There are times that delivery may be made or arranged to a rabbit show or other frequently traveled location.
If delivery can be arranged around an agreeable schedule, we will need reimbursement for our mileage and time.
Please bring a durable carrying case for each rabbit you will be transporting home. Rabbits that are from different litters and litter mates older than 3 months cannot be housed together for the trip home. For trips of more than an hour please bring water dishes as well.
Waiting List
Due to the rarity of the heritage breeds and the rising demand for breeding stock, Broad River Rabbitry stock is in high demand. Please contact us if you would like to be placed on a waiting list for heritage rabbits. We do have diverse lineage for each of our breeds and will be able to provide duos and trios as our stock comes of age. During the hottest summer months does will not be bred. Thank you for your patience. It is worth the wait.
